Default PvP Noob Island

People have been complaining about HA and how hard it is to get in a team if you are unranked etc etc ( been going on for a long time this gripe ).

So, people who have no idea about PvP should go to PvP Noob Island. This island will be a place were competitors like yourself can all compete with each other gaining Balths and experience as you do so. 4 vs 4, 6 vs 6 battles mini gvg style games could all be played until a Balths cap was reached where you are then turfed out into the big bad world but ready to slot into a HA role and play competently in a gvg.

There could be trainer levels that show you how to kite, how to position your self, weapon swapping, basic things that teach you to become a better player. Guests from high ranked guilds could come and do questions and answer sessions even (unlikely this one ^^ ).

Well, its just an idea that will probably be flamed to hell, but it could get people new to pvp into the groove without all the heartache of losing continually in the current competitions.

I like this idea. esp since i suck at PvP. Another addition is premade build for you proff to try out while there. this way you get a feel for the synergy. These could use skills even if you dont have them if you try it out while there. You would of course lose them when you leave. But this might give people reason to PvE and get those skills if the builds are viable.

Good idea Elrodien.

Umm... welcome to Random Arenas. You realize new accounts now have to unlock access to HA with RA and then TA wins right?

The only thing i would like to see is that u can test how some game mechanics work without starting actual matches, so whats present on certain GvG maps, beneficial detrimental. Can I make a viable solo split against certain NPCs etc. Being able to explore all maps is good for orientation. Scrimages being setup on different maps will be good too. It wil allow players to develop a basic knowledge set without being slaughtered due to lack of knowledge of the map. If Anet can instance PvE areas, they will most likely also be able to instance any PvP map.

I sign if this is what u mean but I dont sign if you are referring to obligatory discrimination. Anyway after u would have finished "Noob island" you would still lack rank, and end up in low rank PUGs anyway. Unfortunate, but its the way it will always be, unless your guild takes you in.

well this seems like a good idea but yea there are some flaws, there should be restrictions and this would be hard to put in, i would rather see an upgrade to isle of the nameless, as of now i cannot give my verdict on this idea but its not all bad

In a way I do agree with you - it would certainly be useful for a beginner pvp-er to test out builds etc but the NPC's that you suggest would only have a set skill bar and when it came to fighting against a human player they'd be using something different. And yes, the ability to explore maps would be useful, but its also something that could be learnt over time.

A huge problem with starting pvp I think, and I think new players struggle to start pvp now because of it - its one of the reasons why I'm looking forward to GW2 cos I might be able to get on the pvp ladder!

Yes I do, but the new pvpers still have to face glad 2 and 3 opponents. This island would only let people of low Balths faction compete against each other. Of course, people with two accounts could theoretically ruin the system, but if the balths threshold was set to say 100k the better players would quickly reach this.

Why not have a 6 v 6 HA here with fame awarded for battles won? Could this be open to abuse? Perhaps, but when you hit the 100k Balths faction threshold you have to leave. since Balths is per account, you aren't going to win much fame in here, but it could be enough to get a rank 2 which shows some experience of HA at least when you leave.

meh..I'm not going to argue my case too strongly - its only a idea I had, but I think it could solve more problems than it causes.

When I wanted to test a build really quick to see if it is even worth considering pursuing further, I go to the Isle of the Nameless and test it out there. It gives me a rough idea on how it will be against someone. I think if you want to do some "training" just do Zaishen Challenge --> Zaishen Elite --> Random Arenas --> Team Arenas ---> HA. It is a stepping process and you'll learn as you go. I can see where you going though.
If you want, you can try to get a group together and just do a guild scrimmage, whether it be 4v4 (good practice for RA/TA).

They could put something similiar to Instructor Ng in Factions there on the Isle of the Nameless. Maybe that will help those newer people out a little.

I agree with c_ras. The problem as I see it is, that many new PvP players try to start out in HA and GvG too quickly and skip that progression. Playing RA or AB a lot before transitioning into more serious PvP is important just to learn about field awareness. Learning to constantly be kiting as a caster, etc.

I know A LOT of people that have been playing for a long time that have never PvP'ed because of the elitist attitude and the bashing on of new pvp'ers. I think instead of making it for new lower toons...make stepping areas(gaining ranks in training)..0-R1, R2-R3 then hopefully you'd be ready to merge into "real" PvP.
